Next Move Care exists to make healthcare more human—one person, one family, and one next move at a time.
Healthcare should not become harder to navigate because a person is older, disabled, LGBTQ+, overwhelmed, unfamiliar with medical language, or supported by a chosen family. Our work begins where the system can feel least human: rushed decisions, unclear responsibility, inaccessible explanations, and plans that do not reflect the person's real life.
Why this is not a nonprofit
A mission can be charitable in spirit without being organized as a charity
A nonprofit is not simply a kind business that charges less. It has no private owner or equity, must be governed for an approved public purpose, places control and fiduciary responsibility with a board, and must dedicate its assets and surplus to that exempt purpose. That structure is valuable when an organization is primarily funded by grants and donations to deliver broad public programs.
Next Move Care is beginning as a founder-led professional advocacy service. Clients hire it for individualized nursing knowledge, preparation, and follow-through. The current model needs direct accountability, the ability to respond quickly, the freedom to refine services from real cases, and a sustainable way to compensate skilled work. A mission-driven LLC is the more honest structure for that work today.
About the word “for-profit”
The label can sound commercial. The conduct gives it meaning.
“For-profit” can carry a negative connotation in healthcare because people have seen revenue placed ahead of dignity, access, or safety. That concern deserves respect. But the legal label does not decide the organization's character. Its choices do.
Independence matters
The client—not a hospital, payer, facility, or referral source—pays for the advocacy, helping keep the client's goals central.
Access is built into the model
Supported and Community Access rates and free public education turn stated values into operating choices.
Ethics set the limits
No referral payments, no guaranteed outcomes, no fear-based selling, and no accepting work that falls outside the defined service.

What reform looks like here
Change begins inside the conversation
- When an older adult is spoken to instead of spoken around.
- When a disability and the realities of home are considered in the plan.
- When an LGBTQ+ patient's identity and chosen family are treated with dignity.
- When medical language is explained without judgment.
- When a caregiver can state honestly what they can and cannot safely do.
- When someone asks whether the next step is realistic—and who is responsible for it.
Next Move Care does not promise to repair an entire healthcare system through one case. It works to make that system more understandable, accountable, and humane for the person standing in front of us.
The long-term structure
One mission does not require one blended company
The vision may eventually include advocacy, a vetted coordination network, logistics, licensed clinical or palliative services, hospice or respite support, an affirming membership, and charitable access. Those parts should not be mixed together before they are ready.
Each regulated service must have the correct ownership, licenses, clinical accountability, contracts, insurance, privacy system, and billing. Clients must retain provider choice, and payments must be tied to actual work—not the value or volume of healthcare referrals.
Kindness must do something
Compassion enters the conversation. Preparation and advocacy move it forward.
Here, kindness means listening before assuming, explaining without embarrassing, preparing before important meetings, respecting culture and identity, asking necessary questions, and following through when responsibility remains unclear.
